my dog just threw up and this is my first dog. I don’t know what to do?
she is a 6 1/2 months old and 5.5 pounds. She just threw up 4 golf ball sized lumps. It was really dry and didn’t smell at all. it was light brown with pieces of her treats in it. it was very chunky.(sorry to gross you out I just want to be descriptive)
She had eaten her normal amount today and had no treats and went to the bathroom like she normally does. She also had an average amount of water.
Now I just given her a full bath and dried her out. About 30 minutes later she was laying on my belly chewing her pink nylabone and starting hacking. I quickly put her down and she threw up on the white living room carpet.
She has been acting like herself and she took a few sips of water and has been fine since. Does anyone know what might have been the cause? Is there anything that I need to do to help her? Like I said this is my first dog so I am nervous. Any information is appreciated. Thanks!
It could have been several things, or it could have been nothing. She could’ve eaten something that didn’t agree with her tummy, or she could’ve gotten choked or gagged on her toy, and that might’ve triggered her to throw up. Since she threw up something that hadn’t even had a chance to get digested (i.e. no smell, still dry and in pieces), I’d be willing to bet she got choked or gagged on something. As long as she’s still acting normal and she doesn’t throw up anymore or have diarrhea, I wouldn’t worry. If she does start throwing up more, you might want to call the vet tomorrow.
