Correcting a dog a prong collar?

What do you correct and how soft/hard to? like bolting to aggression?

And remember that the collar is not designed to hurt the dog into submission. The collar is used for a slight pinch, just enough to get the dog to snap out of the intense focus it is displaying. One way to help this method work is to really read your dog. When he is starting to get into that zone where you know hes not going to hear any command you ask cause hes so intensely focused on his objective, then you give him a little tug (to the side, if you pull back he’ll rear up and pull harder). Whenever i see my dog looking the wrong way (after knowing her for so long I know when shes looking out of interest and when shes looking for the purpose of doing her own thing), thats when I give a little tug letting her know that “thats not ok, lets carry on”. The quicker you catch this look, the more likely he will be to respond to a slight tug.

And with it being a prong collor im assuming you have him on walks…. if he does this while you are passing people/fences/etc dont stop!! dont give him the chance to be bad. If you keep walking hell have no choice but to follow and soon enough hell understand this and let things pass without insident.

Long and short, be affirmative with the correction. Its designed to break concentration…not to hurt or instill fear into the dog.

EDIT: I agree, prong collars CAN be bad if used in the wrong way, if used correctly, there is nothing wrong with them. Problem is, too many people get angry at the dogs for not listening and use them too forcefully. Like spanking your child….theres nothing wrong with spanking for discipline but beating your child is cruel and wrong.
