Preparing house for indoor dog ?

I’m gonna get little poodle soon, and already done allot of research on potty training, dog health, and what to buy for the dog. But I what steps should I take in changing my house to prepare for the dog. My house is currently very messy, with trash everywhere. First step is probably cleaning but what exactly ?

Pick up and throw out all the trash, first and foremost. You don’t want the dog to get anything it can swallow and choke on nor do you want it to pick up any kind of disease from rotten food, etc. Make sure there are not a lot of electrical cords around that he can chew on and get electricuted. Keep things you don’t want chewed up out of sight and away from the dog. Get a crate and a dog bed so it will have someplace where it will feel safe and can call it’s own. Food bowls and toys for him to play with.
