my chihuahua is absolutely afraid of toys that move! what should i do?
When we first adopted her from the pound when she was a puppy (apparently her older owners use to abuse her), she was very playful and enthusiastic. she used to play with anything we would give her.
this event must have been very dramatic to her but we were playing with one of those toy cars that you roll back and then it goes forward when you let it go. We had it go towards Candy (my dog) and it stopped in front of her, naturally she picked it up so she can play with it but then she dropped it and then it started driving off and it scared the living daylights out of her!
Since (even 7 years from the event) then she makes every which way to escape when we show her a toy that moves, whether it is mechanical or battery powered.
I feel so sorry for her because she doesn’t know whats she is missing…
remember when you were young? there were toys that you enjoyed and toys that you disliked. just what you think is fun may not be fun for her
she doesn’t like toys that move- they probably scare her… solution is easy… don’t give he those toys, she may not be missing anything. maybe she likes to tug rope, maybe she likes to chew or play fletch, there’s nothing wrong with disliking moving toys.
the mechanical parts (especially if they are not MADE FOR DOGS) could be very dangerous and pose a choking hazard.
